Every day around 50 families are relocated from the El Tablón slums to the new suburb of 'La Liberación'.
The local authority in Sosúa has allocated three lorries to help with this process.
The empty houses left behind in the slums are destroyed immediately, supervised by the police and military personnel.
The relocation project is progressing well and there has been no resistance, as previously predicted.
However, the water supply in the new suburb is not functioning correctly.
The water pump has already broken down three times, so that residents cannot have a shower or wash their clothes.
The power supply is also continually being cut, so people often have no power in their homes.
The moving van
Hopefully these teething troubles will be resolved quickly.
However, there are other things going on in El Tablón.
Since the best families have already been moved, there is no longer any social control within the slum area.
La Liberación comes to life
Those that remain behind are not eligible for a new house in the new La Liberación suburb.
These include the so-called 'tigers', who are mostly criminals of some sort.
They sit around the camp fires during the evening.
There's plenty of demolition wood available so its easy to keep the fires going.
The bottles of rum are passed from one to another and they seem to be having a good time.
They laugh, sing and dance, but also have some heated discussions among themselves.
These can result in fist fights, which are only resolved when the military break up the violence.
It's not clear what will happen to those left behind in this area.
