Having a Caribbean wedding in the Dominican Republic is a dream for many couples, but Saturday evening, March 27th, this dream came true for one happy couple.
Blanka from Canada and Edwin from Sosua (la Unión), took the important step and confirmed, in front of witnesses, the civil judge and the many invited friends and family 'si accepto' (yes, I do).
The wedding took place at the 'Treehouse' Restaurant and Bar on Sosúa Beach.
The organizer and hostess of the wedding was Linda Kramer.
Normally she works at Mel Tours as a representative, but she is also a professional wedding organizer, who arranges everything according to individual budgets.
She not only organized the marriage formalities.

She also coordinated everything for the couple since they started planning their wedding in the Dominican Republic, back in November 2009.
Linda also helped them with all the official paperwork and legal requirements.

The wedding ceremony started at 6.00pm and, shortly after the bride arrived at the beach on the arm of Edwin's cousin, the civil judge started his speech about the value of marriage and then the couple took their marriage vows right in front of the ocean.
This was followed by a long photo session along the beach with the sunset in the background.
After the reception, with champagne, fruit punch and other cocktails, the happy couple opened the big buffet of roast pork (Puerco asado), Island Rice (Morro), Potato Salad (ensalada rusa), mixed salad and delicious Maniok chips (arrepa).
After dinner, everybody was waiting for the happy couple to dance, and then the groom had to remove the blue garter from the bride's leg - to everyone's amusement!
A highlight of the evening was when the couple cut through the lovely wedding cake, decorated in cream and light blue, and weighing nine pounds.
