Foundation 'Help Sosúakids to School' starts a trade school
The President and founder Sylvia Berkley of the Dutch foundation 'Help Sosúakids to School' visited between 15 April and 6 May Sosúa again. As always, she stayed at Casa Marina Resort where she gradually becomes a member of the family. Again she brought with her a lot of things for the school she supports, 'Colegio Evangelico Asher'. She brought a large amount of school supplies, more than 20 pounds of rags, and many beautiful t-shirts she received from Dutch clothing manufacturer Fox Productions. Furthermore, it appears that Sylvia will succeed to transport to Sosúa 350 kilos of rags for handicraft classes. To achieve this she will receive the valuable assistance of the Rotary Club in the Netherlands and Sosúa and the Belgian Mission World Aid.

Sylvia is now seriously looking for money to build a trade school in La Unión for the Colegio Asher. The Asher Foundation purchased the ground to build on in January of this year.

A group of Canadians, who also supports the College will take the lead.
The school
The primary and secondary school for the children do very well because of the efforts of the Dominican couple (Judith en Roberto Terrero) and 15 teachers.
But further education with the prospect of a paid job is still lacking.
Hence, Sylvia is now committed to the construction of a trade school.
Well trained craftsmen, professionals, can always find a job, has been the experience.
Hopefully that donors will sign up to sponsor this wonderful project 'Help Sosúa Kids to School'.
With your support next year they can start with the construction of the trade school.
