The President and founder Sylvia Berkley of the Dutch foundation 'Help Sosúakids to School' visited between May 12 and June 2 Sosúa again.
Of course she stayed at Casa Marina Resort where she is always more than warmly received.
This time she brought again many things for her school 'Colegio Evangelico Asher' with her.
The school is still growing and now has over 350 pupils with 15 teachers and support staff including a cook.
The first students have now graduated and could thereby be helped to work.
Fortunately, there is good news because the Ministry of Education recognizes the evening classes of the Colegio Asher, which means that the Department will pay the salary for one teacher for evening classes from August 2013.

During this visit to Sosúa Sylvia also visited two orphanages namely 'Tesoro de Dios' and 'Hogar Luisa Ortea'.
For the children of the orphanage she had brought school supplies, T-shirts and a generous supply of food with her.
For many children in an orphanage one hot meal a day is not always possible.
Furthermore, the Foundation 'Help Sosúakids to School' launched a new project.
In the poverty-stricken village Camú, at a fifteen minutes' drive from Sosúa, the Foundation Help Sosúakids gives about 25 underprivileged children all they need to go to school.
This project will cost approximately € 1,000 per annum and she strives to do this for at least 6 full years.
Despite the economic crisis Sylvia hopes that people will continue to support the underprivileged children.
