The sidewalk on the bridge of the Sosúa river was completely broken, so pedestrians were forced to use the motorway when crossing the bridge.

That was dangerous because of the (motor) traffic.
At this bridge many accidents occurred, even some of them fatal.
Often there stood a soldier or policeman on guard with orders to insure pedestrians a safe passage.
Now mayor Ilana Neumann had ordered to build a walkway on both sides of the bridge, this to the great satisfaction of the inhabitants of Maranatha (municipality of Sosúa).
Now they can, without risking their lives, cross the bridge without danger.
