The annual Brugal Merengue Festival in Puerto Plata starts this year at 7 PM on Saturday 27 September and continues on Sunday evenin, September 28th.
The festival takes place at the point (La Puntilla) of the Malecón opposite the famous Fort San Filipe.

A popular DJ will open both evenings with a performance.
Next the professional Folkloric Ballet of the Ministry of Tourism does a performance.
This is followed by performances by famous salsa, merengue, and reggaeton artists like Sexappeal, Miriam Cruz, Mozart La Para, Banda Libre, El Alfa, La Banda de los años Dorados del Merengue with the cooperation of Dioni Fernández, Henry García, Diomedes, Ray Polanco, Monchy, Wilman Peña and Alex Matos.
The evening closes with a fabulous fireworks.
The entire festival is made possible and funded by the company Brugal and the Ministry of Tourism.
