After the relocation of the residents of El Tablón in May 2008 to the neighborhood of La Liberación came the announcement that the residents of the neighborhood La Piedra (part of Los Charamicos) also had to move.
The story went that the entire area was bought by Russian investors and the plan was to construct luxury apartments, hotels and swimming pools on this location.
The residents could get a new home in the neighborhood to be built near the landfill in the community of La Unión.
After fierce and tough resistance of the inhabitants of La Piedra the relocation was cancelled.
And now Mayor Ilana Neumann recently ordered to provide the main road and two side streets in La Piedra of an asphalt layer.

For the residents of this neighborhood, this is the signal that for the time being there is not going to happen any forced relocation.
Don Billo Rodríguez, a highly respected resident of the neighborhood said:
'I have lived over 70 years in this area and I can honestly say that Ilana Neumann is the first to be concerned about us'.
After completion of the work, the mayor made an inspection tour of the neighborhood accompanied by Councilman Miguel Fernández and municipal officials.
And on the spot she promised the residents that she will remain in consultation with the neighborhood committee on new improvements for the benefit of the inhabitants of this neighborhood.
