The floods were so sudden that many families could not bring their household goods on time in safety.
Furniture, refrigerators, kitchens and beds were inundated by water and mudslides.
But also crops like yuca, sweet potatoes, platanos and fruit trees were destroyed by the swirling waters.
The governor Ivan Rivera of the Puerto Plata province, asked President Danilo Medina to offer assistance for the families who are so affected by this natural disaster.
