Friday, February 27 is the day to celebrate the memorable fact that 171 years ago the independent 'República Dominicana' was proclaimed.
Preceded by the military band at approximately 9 AM a parade starts through the streets of El Batey and Charamicos of Sosúa.
The parade stops a few minutes at the park with the flags to honor the memorial at the park.
Then the parade continues, preceded by a fire truck with siren screaming, through the main street Pedro Clisante then by the main road to Charamicos.
At the parade 17 schools take part, but also representatives of the police, fire department, civil guard and other officials accompanied by Mayor Ilana Neumann.
For this festive day the main street Pedro Clisante will be closed for traffic all day from Calle Duarte to Cafe Cubano.
After the parade, the main street will transform into a large market place.
There will be a crafts and flea market, bake sale and tombola raffle and live music at Jolly Roger.
For children there are various activities like a bouncy castle, coloring, mask making, fishing game, and more.

Furthermore, there are several terraces where visitors can enjoy a drink and a snack.
Until 6 PM it is Family Day at the Pedro Clisante.
