Saturday 21 February, in the park Mirador Sosúa, opposite the monument with the Star of David, the assassination of 6 million Jewish people between 1933 and 1945 was commemorated.
The meeting began with a minute of silence in which the victims were commemorated.
Then, six torches were lit and one by one solemnly put in the Star of David.
With the placing of each torch poems were recited, speeches held and appropriate music played.

The religious part was led by Rabbi Dani Ohana.
The meeting was attended by Bishop Julio Cesar Corniel Amaro of Puerto Plata, the mayor of Sosúa Ilana Neumann, the ambassador of Israel Bahij Mansour, and the Director of the Collegio Luis Hess Mr Miguel Ángel Rivera.
This school was founded by the Jewish community in 1941.
Also present were, among others, the Director of Tourism Lorenzo Sancassani and councilors Mélida Guzmán, Aris Mendy Medina and Ángela de Jesús.
The meeting is held to never forget these heinous acts and we need to ensure that such a thing can never happen again.
