For years now people complained about the traffic in Cabarete.
All traffic has to squeeze itself through the narrow passageway and this causes unsafe situations, parking problems and noise and odor pollution.
During a visit to Cabarete in 2012, President Danilo Medina promised that a solution would be found for these problems.
A ring road around Cabarete
Now the president ordered to start to construction of a bypass around Cabarete.
In addition, a modern boulevard will be constructed.
The ring road will have a length of five kilometers and connects to the existing freeway.
The boulevard will be two kilometers long.
The entire project is carried out by the firm Cemex Dominicana, and is estimated at 700 million pesos.
The engineering firm 'la Oficina de Ingenieros Supervisores de Obras del Estado (OISOE)' will monitor the implementation of the project.
The construction of the ring road should be ready mid-December.
