Redevelopment beach will be realized?
During the tourist promotion fair in Berlin (ITB) the Minister of Tourism Francisco Javier Garcia of the Dominican Republic announced major changes to Sosúa. The beach of Sosúa belongs, according to the minister, to the premium tourist locations of the country. Sosúa must undergo a moral rehabilitation and return to a family resort. At El Batey (the tourist neighborhood of Sosúa) everything is focused on the nightlife of the town. But also the beach has to be refurbished.

The Minister of Tourism made these statements and they were warmly welcomed by Thomas Callender (President of ASHORESOCA) and Andrés Gustavo Pastoriza, president of the Association for Sustainable Development of Sosúa (ADSS). They believe that the infrastructure of Sosúa and Cabarete needs improvement (improvement of access roads, more attention to safety). The redevelopment of the beach of Sosúa is of mayor importancve. But there also has to be done something very soon with the construction of a hospital for Sosúa and surrounding area.
