Every year students of the Colegio Luis Hess participate in the Science Olympiad in Santo Domingo.
From all parts of the country the best students of the schools are invited to participate in this multi-day Olympiad in the subjects of biology, physics and chemistry.

The Olympiad takes place in the Library Pedro Mir in Santo Domingo.
The event is sponsored by the Ministry of Education and the University Autónoma de Santo Domingo.
Every year the students of the Colegio Luis Hess in Sosúa manage to make it to the finals and frequently even win the first prize.
Last week, Daniela Silverio Garcia, a student of the Colegio Luis Hess, won the first prize in the discipline Chemistry.
Not only Daniela’s family is very proud of her, but also the principal Lic. Miguel Ángel Rivera and her chemistry teacher Camelia Ferreras are very proud of their pupil.
Since 2005, the Colegio Luis Hess in Sosúa won eleven times a final in the Science Olympiad.
The Colegio Luis Hess was founded in 1941 by the Jewish community in Sosúa and has built over the years a great reputation as one of the best schools in the region.
