The artist Teddy Tejeda is currently painting the wall around the Gregorio Luperón school in El Batey Sosúa.
The scenes are portraits of important historical people from the Dominican Republic.
Among them, of course Juan Pablo Duarte.
Juan Pablo Duarte is considered the founder and 'father of the fatherland', who in 1844 together with Ramon Mella and Francisco Sánchez, ended the Haitian occupation and exclaimed the (first) independent Dominican Republic (República Dominicana).
Teddy also painted the Mirabel sisters.
The names of three Dominican women, known as the Mariposas, stand since 1981 a symbol of the international day 'Against Violence Against Women'.

María Teresa, Minerva and Patria Mirabal were murdered on November 25, 1960 by order of the dictator Trujillo.
Even General Gregorio Luperon is not lacking in the mural.
Gregorio Luperon was idolized by the people of Puerto Plata because he was seen as a savior of the country.
Under his military leadership in 1865, the country was liberated from Spanish rule.
The government has given the assignment to Teddy in order to remind the youth on these important events in the history of the country.
Teddy also has also been assigned to make these murals at other schools.
