Wednesday February 3 President Andrés Gustavo Pastoriza of the foundation ADSS (Asociación de Desarrollo y Sostenibilidad Sosúa) presented a (symbolic) check for one hundred thousand pesos to Pastor Bernardo Vasques.
The presentation of this check was done in the presence of the Board of ADSS (including Ricardo Strauss and Juan Perdomo) and representatives of neighborhood committees, associations and the local press.
The 100,000 pesos was raised at the beach party 'Sosúa - Sol and Arena' held on the beach at Mirador park on June 6, 2015.
This check is for the construction of a public hospital for Sosúa.
Priest Bernardo Vasques has worked many years for the establishment of the hospital, hence the check was handed out to him.
At least for 25 years the residents of Sosúa have requested for a public hospital.
Every time during election time presidential candidates make the same promises that the construction of the hospital will start soon.
ADSSosúa offers a symbolic check
In April 2012 the former president Leonel Fernández, during a visit to Sosúa, made the promise that the hospital would come.
In front of an audience of thousands of residents, he hit the ground with a pickaxe at the place where the new hospital was supposed to be constructed.
And after the elections nothing happens and the people are left behind with an empty election promise.
Maybe now, it is almost election time, the promises will be complied with some extra pressure from the people.
