Friday afternoon and evening it was still quiet in Sosúa because on Good Friday it is not allowed to play any music.
But Saturday afternoon the beach was packed.
All the streets surrounding the beach were filled with buses who brought the party goers from Santo Domingo, Santiago and La Vega to Sosúa.
Most visitors had brought coolers with food and drink.
For that reason the bars and restaurants at the beach are not that busy, but those who sold fish did good business.
It is truly a feast for the Dominicans, the tourists mostly watch it from a distance.
There were several teams from Charamicos, Santiago and Santo Domingo to participate in the volleyball competition at the beach, the 'Sasino trophy'.
It was again the water company from Sosúa 'Aqua Sasino' who organized this competition for the sixth year.
It was therefore called 'VI Copa Sasino Volleyball'.

There were also competitions for the smaller children, like tug of war and wall climbing.
The government was very precautious about the safety of the visitors.
At the entrances of the beach the national police checked everybody on prohibited weapons and glassware.
On the beach all drinks were served in plastic cups.
Glassware was prohibited and this was strictly enforced.
In the evening it was very busy at the Rumba Bar and Rancho Típico.
The other bars were less visited because many Dominicans preferred to stay at the pool of their hotel to party.
The next day, on Sunday, it was much less crowded on the beach of Sosúa.
Because of a little rain, many went earlier home than expected.
It was a grand celebration, without too many calamities.
Thanks to the efforts of the many volunteers of the Civil Guard, the police and military it was a peaceful Semana Santa.
I love Sosúa
