Last week, Thursday night Melania Guzmán returned from a campaign rally.

She has been chosen by the political party PRM as candidate for the elections on May 15 for mayor of Sosúa.
She told a reporter of the El Faro magazine that when she returned in Sosúa, she was detained and arrested by officers of the National Police.
She was then transported to the police station.
The officers refused to tell her what was the reason for the arrest.
After a few minutes she was released.
According Melania Guzmán this was an action of the opposing party to intimidate her.
She called on Roberto Rosario, president of the Central Electoral Board (JCE) and Danilo Medina, the president of the republic to investigate this intimidation attempt and punish the guilty.
