Despite promises made by the management of the water company CORAAPPLATA to the board of the ADSSosúa foundation the water problem remains unsolved in Sosúa.
The President of ADSS (la Asociación para el Desarrollo Sostenible Sosúa) had in fact on February 8, 2016 a meeting with the management of the water company CORAAPPLATA.
The meeting took place in the conference hall of Casa Marina Resort in Sosúa.
The president of the Association of Hotels and Restaurants of Sosúa and Cabarete and the director of Casa Marina were present at this meeting.
Large areas of Sosúa were, and still are, deprived of tap water.
This is caused by leaks in the supply line of the tap water.
The management of the water company promised that very soon all problems should be resolved.
But unfortunately, for example in Playa Chiquita several hotels have been deprived of tap water for al long time.
They are obliged one to two times per week to have a truck bring in a tank of water, to replenish the water supply.

Some hotels reported that they had almost 180,000 pesos of water bills, just to guarantee their customers a sufficient amount of water.
Some hotels invested a lot of money (about 200.00 pesos) for a private water well.
But the pumped water turned out to be brackish, so it is unusable for guests of the hotels.
The hotel owners are desperate and ask the government for a satisfactory solution of this problem.
If this problem of water supply is not resolved soon, some hotels will be forced to close their doors.
