Every first Monday of the month there is a beach cleaning day by the staff from several diving schools in Sosúa.

But now, the board of the 'Movimiento Social FE' with chairman Óscar Peralta organized a cleaning day for the river Sosúa last Sunday.
Major cleanup
Several hundred students and members of neighborhood associations took part in the cleanup.
There was a lot of trash removed from the river on this Sunday.
The entire cleaning action was broadcast by the local TV station.
According to Óscar Peralta, chairman of Movimiento Social FE, he wants to repeat this cleanup every last Sunday of the month.
The action is also intended to raise awareness for local residents.
