Citizens of Sosúa who feel involved in the positive development of their town, ask the town council for the preservation of historical monuments.
The park Mirador at the end of Calle Dr. Rosen, with a statue in the shape of a Star of David in memory of the Jewish refugees is very well maintained by the municipality.
But for example the Herman Strauss park located on the passageway at Mulata 2, is totally neglected.
The park was opened by concerned residents on November 9, 2009 to commemorate the Kristallnacht of November 9, 1938 in Nazi Germany.
The memorial plateau of the murder of ER. Pedro Clisante and DR Alejo Martínez is barely recognizable.

In Sosúa ER. Pedro Clisante and Dr. Alejo Martinez were known opponents of the regime of dictator Trujillo, as both were members of a right-wing liberal opposition party.
At the end of June 1961 both were killed by the secret service headed by Jhonny Abbes.
To commemorate these victims of the terror regime two streets were named after them.
But the plaque, however, bearing the names of these two model citizens is totally neglected.
Another example is the restaurant La Roca.
After a fire and further degradation of this important building for the history of Sosúa, there is almost nothing left.
The concerned citizens of Sosúa now call on the newly elected town council to restore the historical monuments in honor.
