Friday September 9 there was again a protest meeting organized by angry business people.
The meeting took place in the upper room of the Sosúa Bay Casino.
At the meeting the owners and managers of Charly's Bar, Rumba Bar, Bermuda Bar, City Lights, souvenir shops, beach bars and beach restaurants were present.
Several managers held emotional speeches.
More protests against early closing times
Also councilor Fabio Garcia, also known as the anchor man of the TV program Detrás del Rumor, held a speech full of criticism towards the government.
He pointed out, as in the previous meeting, that the actions of the government have brought the business people of Sosúa on the brink of bankruptcy.
A number of shop owners have been forced to close their souvenir shop, beach bar or restaurant.
They could no longer afford the rent.
And the worst part is that the early closing times and the closing of some bars and discos only apply to Sosúa.
For Cabarete these measures do not apply.
During this meeting a committee has been formed that will go to Santo Domingo to express their complaints.
It was even suggested that this discrimination of Sosúa should be brought before President Danilo Medina.
The protests continue, that's for sure.
