Monday, representatives of the Civil guard led by Hector Vásquez, commander of the fire brigade with José Manuel Ventura, Colonel Brito Melo of the National Police and commanders of the Tourists and Traffic Police joined to discuss any issues with the hurricane Mathews.
The hurricane moved, although very slowly, toward Cuba.
Especially on the south coast, including the capital Santo Domingo, it was raining hard and long and it caused a lot of water nuisance.
On the north coast, including Sosúa and Cabarete, there was some heavy rainfall, but the damage was very limited.
Mayor Ilana Neumann had, as a precaution, already ordered to dredge the mouth of the river Sosúa, so the rainwater could easily flow into the ocean.

The Civil guard was ready, if necessary, to help the residents to evacuate and bring the fragile furniture and appliances to safety.
But luckily there wasn’t any severe flooding.
