In recent days, Sosúa residents and tourists with a local SIM card received a reminder from the traffic police (AMET) on their mobile phone.
The message came from Sgt Edison Sena.
He called on the people not to use their cell phone while driving.
Many serious accidents on the road are due to the use of a telephone.
He also called on motorcyclists to use a safety helmet.
In the coming days the traffic police will carry out extra checks (offenders will receive a hefty fine) to urge offenders to drive and behave safely.
