Sunday 9 April, the Catholic community of Sosúa, i.e. parishioners of the parish of San Antonio de Padua from Charamicos and Canadian guests attended Palm Sunday celebrations.
The celebration opened with a Holy Mass led by Father Bernardo Vásquez.

Then those present marched in procession through Charamicos where at the end a speech was held by a representative of the Canadian religious community and the pastor of Charamicos.
They talked about the significance of Palm Sunday.
On Palm Sunday the grand entry of Jesus into Jerusalem is commemorated.
The many pilgrims attending Passover, the Jewish feast of unleavened bread (also called Jewish Easter) were in town, and welcomed Jesus with palm branches.
Hence all the participants of the procession in Charamicos also carried a palm branch in their hands.
