On Monday November 27 there was a meeting in Sosúa Abajo with Mayor Ilana Neumann and residents living there.
The meeting was organized mainly for the owners and tenants of businesses and homes along the thoroughfare.
Architect Anaeliza Montas came up with a plan to make the facades of these businesses and homes more attractive with murals.
Interventión Artistica
Artists in Sosúa can represent a design plan and have the chance to carry out the plans after approval by the residents.
The intention is to make Sosúa more attractive for visitors.
Visitors to Sosúa arrive via the main road along Sosúa Abajo at the beach town.
Right now this part of the passageway looks a bit miserable.
In other cities there are similar projects.
The architect showed some nice examples of murals in Samaná, Río San Juan and Santiago.
According to the mayor it promotes tourism and stimulates employment.
There are no worries about the costs because the mayor found some foreign donors willing to fund this project.
