Recently the vice minister Idalia Acevedo from the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources, installed an environmental group (Comité Gestor Medio Ambiental) in Sosúa.
The installation took place in the meeting room of the City Hall of Sosúa.
Members of this newly installed environmental group include Ilana Neumann (mayor), Lorenzo Sancassani, Provincial Director of Tourism, Mario Garcia Aquino, Onesimus Jimenez and Maria Veras.
The objective of this newly established environmental group, according to the mayor is to conduct research on environmental issues in Sosúa and to find adequate solutions.

This involves, among other environmental pollution and climate change.
