Pirates off the coast of Cabarete
Sosua and Cabarete fishermen went out and saw men and women on board with wet suits.
The fishermen think that they will try to retrieve the treasures.
Rumour has it in Cabarete that it could possibly be the treasure of notorious pirate Cofresi.
The pirate who lived here in the 18th Century, and attacked, looted and sank non-Spanish ships.
He was also called the Robin Hood of the Caribbean, as he shared his loot with the poor.
But his ship was attacked too and sank.
The fishermen believe that this was near Cabarete.
But now there are new pirates off the coast searching for gold and silver.
Fishermen call on the authorities to intervene and make sure the treasures benefit the Dominican people.
They also want the most valuable pieces to have a place in the National Museum, so that the entire population can enjoy this important treasure.
