Chili Thai Restaurant has been part of the Sosúa Restaurant scene for some time.
Currently being run by Pascal with a real Thai cook, the restaurant serves authentic Thai cuisine.
This is a delightful experience if you want to have quality spicy food.
Situated in La Mulatta II it is some way outside Sosúa and it is popular with the north coast expatriate community.
It is open for dinner on Wednesday to Sunday from 6:00 pm to 10:00pm.
The menu includes appetizers of hot spicy soups such as Tom Yum Gung - scampi soup and, Pho Pbia Too - spring rolls which also come in vegetarian variety.
Shown below is Tom Yum Gung and Spring Rolls.
There are 'ready to serve' Thai curries that come with rice.
The one shown is Gang Dang - Red Curry with Chicken Breast and pineapple.
There are Fish dishes, noodle dishes and main dishes such as Pan Paak Nua - pan cooked vegetables with beef.
There are chicken, pork and seafood dishes as well.
The other main course shown is a 'special' glass noodle seafood salad with aromatic herbs and lime dressing.
A limited number of deserts are on the menu too.
There is a good range of drinks including cocktails at moderate prices.
Limited selections of good quality wines by the bottle are available and relatively inexpensive.
Wine by the glass is available at somewhat higher prices.
There is the normal range of mixed drinks that are generous in size and reasonably priced.
A selection of beers is available.
The service is good, cheerful and the tables are nicely laid.
Chopsticks are available if you wish them.
The portion sizes are reasonable as well and extra rice for the curry was provided at no extra cost.
The food quality of the authentic Thai dishes was very good and the service was of a three diamonds restaurant.
Prices are in the medium range on the menu and do include taxes and gratuity.
Staff speak some English, German, Spanish, some Dutch and some Thai.
Prices are at the top end of $$ for dinner including a starter, main course and a glass of wine.
Chili Thai Restaurant is about 4 km from Sosúa so can only be reached by car or taxi.
Turn up the La Mulatta road from the N5 main carreterra.
Carry on past the International School and continue for about 2km until you see an unmanned guard post with signs for La Mulatta III and La Mulata II.
There is also a sign for Chili Restaurant on the guard post.
Turn left there and travel about 300 m.
Take the next turn left down Camino de Los Amigos and about 100 m further on you will see the entrance to Chili Thai Restaurant.
Parking is available inside.
Walk past the pool to the restaurant and you are there.
Reservations are not really necessary on weekdays but it can get very busy on Saturday and Sunday so it is best to make reservations for those days.
Large groups should make arrangements in advance and Pascal can arrange a buffet style menu for up to about 24 people maximum.
Open from 6:00pm to about 10:00 pm Wednesday through Sunday.
Closed Monday and Tuesday.
