Sosúa still has no police station, only a small temporary office on Pedro Clisante street.

And it doesn't get any better now that EDENORTE, the electricity company, has cut off the power supply to the office.
The closure is causing surprise and outrage in the community, reported Ángel, a representative of the Dominican Committee for Human Rights in the municipality of Sosúa and the province of Puerto Plata.
The facilities of the National Police Departmental Command and the DICRIM Unit, in the El Batey district, are now without power.
The building houses not only the administrative offices, but also the dormitories for police officers from other provinces.
The lack of electricity therefore constitutes a serious attack on the dignity and minimum working conditions of security personnel.
Ángel described the situation as 'scandalous for Dominican society and for the municipality of Sosúa' and called on the competent authorities to investigate the matter and take measures to prevent a similar incident from happening again.
