Awareness tour for women
Mayor Wilfredo Olivences led the first awareness-raising tour aimed at women who spend the night in Pedro Clisante Street, fulfilling the promise he made during his most recent meeting with representatives of different institutions. During the event, the mayor was accompanied by Noa, president of the La Voz de Noa foundation.

Also present were pastors from Christian churches, members of the National Police, Politur (Tourist Police), representatives of human rights organizations and other organizations. This joint effort confirms the authorities' commitment to promoting the safety, well-being and support of women working on this important street in the city.

The Ombudsman in Sosúa
Pablo Ulloa, the Ombudsman, is a lawyer, psychologist and public policy expert who works to create a more just Dominican Republic. With a doctorate in Public Policy and Society, and master's degrees in Senior Public Management, Economics and International Cooperation, and Public Policy Development for Education, his academic and professional career reflects a constant commitment to developing innovative solutions for the country. Pablo Ulloa is a staunch advocate of a welfare state that promotes the development of every Dominican, and his vision is a country where opportunity and justice are accessible to all. And the Ombudsman was in Sosúa last Wednesday and led a successful meeting 'Diálogo en tu Comunidad' (Dialogues in your Community). This is an initiative that aims to listen to the concerns of citizens and to strengthen social participation.

During his speech, Ulloa praised the commitment of the local authorities and stressed:
'I feel very involved in this municipality, because all the relevant authorities are together today and show their interest in listening to the problems of their residents.'
During the meeting, several community leaders raised issues that could be resolved quickly with the support of government and institutions.
The meeting was supported by Mayor Wilfredo Olivences, Deputy Mayor Dr. Rita Capellán, City Council President Fausto Santos, and Councilors Oscar Luis Gómez Salazar, Francisco Martínez and Wellinton Padilla.
Also present were representatives of civilians, military and community leaders.
This dialogue confirms the commitment to work together on the integral development of Sosúa.

Fire at Caribe Tours
A small fire had started in the cafeteria of the Caribe Tours bus stop in Los Charamicos, Sosúa. Due to the quick and decisive action of the Sosúa fire department, the fire brigade had the fire under control quickly. In this way, they prevented the fire from spreading to the rest of the building of the bus stop.

The gas tanks of the kitchen area were removed first, because of the risk of explosion. Fortunately, there were no injuries. Thanks to all the firefighters and 112 personnel present for their dedication and commitment to the safety of our community.

Important notice!
The Urban Development Department of the Municipality of Sosúa informs that Calle República Dominicana, in the section that goes down from the El Flow store to Calle Pedro Clisante, will be closed to cars and pedestrians today, Tuesday, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. due to sewer works. Apologies for any inconvenience this measure may cause and the municipality appreciates the understanding of all residents. People are urged to take alternative routes and follow the instructions of the staff in the area.

Nuestra Colección
Last week, the exhibition project Nuestra Colección (Our Collection) opened in Casa de Arte, Sosúa. It shows twenty-five works by fifteen artists. On this occasion, the Casa de Arte Foundation presents for the first time part of its collection as cultural heritage.

The exhibition was presented by poet and writer Omar Messón. The keynote speech was given by visual artist and president of this foundation, Mr. Adolfo Faringthon, who stated in his speech that this institution is committed to our artists and keeps alive their invaluable contribution to creative and cultural expression in our country.
