The governor of the province of Puerto Plata, Claritza Rochtte Peralta de Senior, has announced that the new police station in the municipality of Sosúa will be completed in mid-August 2025.

She said that the project was initially intended as a renovation, but that when the work began, it was determined that the construction of the old barracks was unsafe and that it was better to demolish the building.
This led to a budgetary restructuring, which made it necessary to submit an addendum, which halted the process.
She added that during the development of the project, a legal dispute also arose when someone filed documentation claiming ownership of the land.
Although the dispute was decided in favor of the state by a court, the legal process caused several months to pass without any progress.
'These are situations that delay any project, but now everything is on schedule.
We are working on the completion and, God willing, by the end of August we will have a new National Police Unit for Sosúa,' said the governor.
In this sense, the new station is considered a priority and essential project to strengthen security, improve police response and increase the level of prevention in the municipality of Sosúa, one of the main tourist destinations in the north of the country.
On behalf of Mayor Wilfredo Olivences and in collaboration with the City Council, the Municipality of Sosúa has started the construction of the sports field in Bella Vista, a neighborhood of Sosúa.
This important project is part of the municipality's ongoing commitment to developing recreational and sports spaces for the well-being of youth and the entire community.
The city council of Sosúa appears to be working towards a more active and healthier Sosúa with more opportunities for everyone.
Good news for Bella Vista!
Pay attention!

This week it happened again at La Union, Sosúa.
On the main road from Sosúa to Puerto Plata, a cow was walking across the street again.
