According to connoisseurs of political relations in Sosúa the current mayor Ilana Neumann will definitely be re-elected this year.
Her re-election is now more secure because her PRD party has signed a strategic alliance with the current national ruling party PLD.
Although Ilana Neumann is not very popular among foreign entrepreneurs in Sosúa, she is indeed very popular with large segments of the Dominican population.

Her strongest opponent is Melania Guzmán Concejal of the PRM, this party entered into an alliance in with the PRSC for which Willy Olivences (El Chamo) is the party leader.
Melania and Willy also have a lot of supporters and are popular among certain populations.
