Wednesday, April 11 all the bar-, disco and restaurant owners of Sosúa had been invited to a meeting in the city hall.
Presence of the owners was mandatory and not optional.
They were told that all the bars, clubs and discos in the main street Pedro Clisante will be removed.
Pranitium Disco Bar & Cafe
Only restaurants will be allowed to settle there.
The owners of the bars and discos have 14 months to move to the end of the Pedro Clisante, to a red light district.
So beyond the CESTUR (tourist police) station and in the area of the High Caribbean disco.
Within two months, an official presidential decree follows in which it is stipulated that the said establishments have to be closed within a year.
The establishments listed to be closed are among others D' Classico, Pranitium and City Lights.
The intention is that the night life moves to the end of the Pedro Clisante.
In recent weeks several articles (coincidence?) appeared in the media about the decay of Pedro Clisante.
Many are ashamed of the bad name Sosúa has acquired.
The proposed changes are to ensure that Pedro Clisante can again be visited by families with children.
