On Friday, August 24, the new ambassador of Israel offered his credentials to President Danilo Medina of the Dominican Republic.
One of the first acts of the ambassador was paying a visit to Sosúa.
This town was founded by Jewish refugees in the forties of the last century.
Ambassador Danny Biran was welcomed at the office of Mayor Ilana Neumann of Sosúa last Wednesday, September 5th.
Ambassador Israel visits Sosúa
The mayor was joined by Ivonne Milz, Joe Benjamín, Johnny Strauss and Ricardo Strauss, the prominent members of the Jewish community of Sosúa.
During this meeting they extensively discussed innovation methods of agriculture, horticulture and water management, developed by the Israeli people.
Innovations that are also of great value for the further development of Sosúa.
The group then visited the Jewish Museum and the synagogue in Sosúa.
The ambassador was impressed by the efforts of the Jewish refugees who have made Sosúa to what it is today.
The ambassador was very enthusiastic and suggested intensifying the cooperation between Israel and Sosúa.
