In Puerto Plata the 179 birthday of the folk hero Gregorio Luperón was honored with 12 cannon shots near his statue.
Then followed a parade through the streets of the port city.
In Sosúa, on Saturday morning, September 8, they started first with a holy mass in the parish church San Antonio de Padua in Charamicos.
Then followed a parade through the streets of Charamicos and El Batey of Sosúa.
Soldiers, police officers, civil guard and pupils took part in the parade.
The military orchestra provided the music.
