On the corner of Pedro Clisante and Calle Dr. Rosen there used to be a nice bar.
Officially known as the Bermuda Bar, but better known among Sosúa visitors as the 'Fat Herman Bar'.
Yes, the owner was fat and his name was Herman.
Herman also had a cigar shop next to the bar.
Three years ago the government ordered the closure of both the bar and the cigar shop.
Bermuda Bar turned into cigar
and pawn shop
A year ago the renovation of the place started and a lot of work has been done.
Since a week we can admire the results.
It has become a Compra y Venta and a cigar shop.
A Compra y Venta is a pawnshop where visitors can take out loans against collateral from movable property such as jewelry, silverware, art and ornamental objects, smartphones, etc., often at very high interest rates.
Next to the Compra y Venta, there is a fancy cigar shop that is led by Thomas.
We already know Thomas as a former employee of bar Central and later of Bermuda bar.
Thomas is known as a friendly and calm person with many friends.
So the cigar shop has a good chance of success with Thomas.
Nevertheless, we look back with nostalgia at the happy times when bar Fat Herman was still open and Thomas working there.
It was a nice place to have a drink in the afternoon.
