Before President Luis Abinader visited Sosúa on Sunday morning 11 October, he first visited Cabarete.
There he officially opened the three guard towers on the beach of this water sports town by cutting the ribbon and with a pickaxe.
But most importantly for Sosúa, he also ordered the street lighting to be installed on the entire thoroughfare from Puerto Plata, via Sosúa to Cabarete.
President orders street lighting for main road
Due to the absence of proper lighting, many traffic accidents occur there in the evening and at night.
The present chief executive of the energy company EDENORTE said that it will install 370 luminaires, 113 reinforced concrete pylons, 12 transformers and 18 kilometers of medium and low voltage lines.
In addition, EDENORTE wants to provide lighting for six sports fields and three parks in La Unión, Montellano, La Tamarinda, Sosúa and Cabarete.
Furthermore, EDENORTE's spokesperson said they will install 37 megawatt transformers to ensure that the problems of power fluctuations are solved.
These fluctuations (especially the peak current surges) often cause computers and TVs to burn out.
