On Sunday morning, August 22, President Luis Abinader, accompanied by the Minister of Tourism David Collado, visited the beach of Sosúa.
This visit was planned a week earlier but was postponed due to Hurricane Grace.
All entrances to the beach were closely guarded by dozens of officers and only invited guests were allowed access to the beach.
A huge tent had been set up on the beach with long tables and chairs and a sound system. Next to the president and minister sat Mayor Wilfredo Olivences of Sosúa.
The president announced an investment of 350 million pesos for the development and recovery of Sosúa's tourism.
The beach will be restructured with a square where entrepreneurs will get a cabin.
