The new 200 peso banknote
The ceremony took place in the vestibule of the auditorium at the Central Bank in Santo Domingo.
The 200 peso note contains a picture of the Mirabel sisters - these are national heroins and resistance fighters from the period when the dictator Trujillo was murdered.
The 60 peso coin has been minted to honour the 60th anniversary of the Central Bank, and contains a picture of Salomé Ureña de Henríquez, who was a great poet and suffragette at the beginning of the 20th century.
