Here stood Neptune
Several days ago, the bronze statue of Neptune, that stood on a rock in the sea opposite the Malecón in Puerto Plata, suddenly disappeared.
Residents think that clever metal thieves have struck again.
However, the spokesperson for the local authority thinks that the strong winds of the past few days have caused the statue to become detached from its base.
If that is the case, say residents, then the statue should now be in the sea, but will not have disappeared.
'So, Mr Mayor, send divers down quickly before the metal thieves get there first.'
