Codetel is furious about the fact that cable thieves are always stealing their telephone and Internet cable.
Over the past month the telecommunications company has had to replace over one million pesos worth of cable in Sosúa alone.
Last Thursday around 200,000 pesos worth of cable was stolen from Playa Chiquita, and local residents had to go without their telephones and Internet for many hours.
Apparently the thieves are very professional, and are able to steal large amounts of cable in just a few minutes.
They work from the top of a truck, where they place the ladder enabling them to reach up and cut the cable.
They then drive away quickly, pulling the loose cable into the vehicle as they go.
It's all over within a few minutes, leaving Codetel and the police in despair.
Codetel replaces the cable
When clients complain about the many telephone and Internet failures they should also complain to the cable thieves.
Codetel says it is doing everything it can to replace the cable as quickly as possible.
