At Hotel Sosúa by the Sea the guests jumped into the pool, while the management at hotel Don Andres poured champagne for everyone, and Casa Marina and Sosúa Bay hotels focused on live music by various performers.
At midnight precisely the Sosúa Bay and Piergiorgio hotels set off their traditional firework displays, which were enjoyed by everyone throughout the town.
Wonderful!
Although it's now illegal to set off fireworks in the streets, because the government says they cause too many injuries (such as serious damage to eyes, hands and faces), we still heard one or two bangers set off by a group of youngsters.
By 12:30am on New Year's Day, all the bars in the town's main street, the Pedro Clisante, were full of happy revellers.
Extra tables and chairs were set out opposite the colmado known as El Flow.
The other bars in the street, such as Fat Herman, Latino Bar, El Central, Merengue Bar and the Happy bar were also full of celebrating party-goers.
There was a terrific atmosphere, and everyone had a great time.
El Flow
Later on, during the early hours, most people went to the discos, which became so full that people had to be turned away.
A live group played at the recently opened Disco X, from 3am onwards.
As there was no official closing time, the various parties just continued until daylight.
It will take some serious party-goers several days to recover from their hangovers, and then perhaps they'll remember to make some New Year's Resolutions!
