Saturday evening at 10 o'clock a major fire broke out in buildings near the Palm Village apartment complex in El Batey.

The fire brigade was quickly on the spot and luckily was able to prevent the fire from spreading further.
But they unfortunately could not prevent that the already burning houses were completely destroyed.
During damp down the fire brigade did a terrible discovery.
They found the lifeless body of a child about 2 years old.
It is still unknown what caused the fire.
The neighbors say they have seen children who may have been playing with matches.
A dozen families are now homeless by the fire and a family is doubly hit because of the terrible loss of her 2 year old child.
