The owner of the, also among the locals, popular Rumba Bar, is the New York businessman Bob.
Although Bob regularly flies to New York for business, he recently has spent a lot of time in Sosúa.
The Rumba Bar opened in March 2010.
The Rumba bar quickly became very popular and also many locals like the bar a lot.
It is a beautiful and airy in ancient Greek style constructed bar.
But also the beers and Cuba Libres have Dominican style low prices and another important thing, you hear mainly Dominican music (bachata, merengue, salsa and reggaeton).
Rumba Bar Sosúa
So hardly any High Tech boom boom music as for example Disco D' Clasico has made a habit of.
But there's more:
Bob is a successful businessman and the profit that he earns with the Rumba Bar is not really necessary for him.
He uses this money to help the poor among the Dominican population.
Bob and the local Baseball Team
He had baseball equipment flew in from the USA for the youth from Charamicos, Los Castillos and Maranatha.
Soon 15 girls and 25 boys in Bella Vista, will receive their full sports equipment too.
But after the presentation of the sports equipment he will also invite the youth in his snack bar where they can enjoy a nice meal.
And Bob has more ideas to help out the poorer people from Sosúa and surroundings.
He is currently trying to get a large number of wheelchairs flown in from the U.S. to help the elderly and disabled people to give them a more mobile life.
So next time when you're having fun and a having nice cold Presidente beer at the Rumba Bar, you know that you are also supporting the poor people of Sosúa.
You will then enjoy your cold beer or Cuba Libre even more.
