Eddy of 'Eddy's Sports Bar' is no more.
Edgar Cahill died last Thursday night (December 19) due to a heart failure here in Sosúa at the age of 67.
Eddy was a phenomenon, a legend in Sosúa.
Eddy worked as a security guard in Canada at the James Bay Hydroelectric Complex in northern Quebec.
After several holidays in Sosúa, he decided 30 years ago to settle in this seaside resort and open the famous and renowned sports bar in the town hall street (Calle Ayuntamiento) as Eddy's Sports Bar.
Eddy's Sports Bar became a household name on the North Coast.
During sports broadcasts, there were many TV screens were you could see all the big games.
For major sporting events such as world championships boxing, Formula 1 and football you had to stand in line to get into the bar.
Eddy was the first in Sosúa who had a satellite connection and therefore could offer these matches live.
When he reached retirement Eddy decided slow it down a bit.
Along with Jerry Morris and a businessman from New York they made liquor store 'Super Super' a reliable and well established company.

At Super Super you know for sure that the cigars you buy are original.
Eddy is now no longer with us, and we will miss him.
We wish his family and friends strength to bear the big loss.
