In October 2013 at the Malecón in Puerto Plata a restaurant and bar with a large terrace opens with the appealing name 'Tropical Bar'.
The restaurant and bar is housed in Caseta no. 3 on the beach side of the seaside boulevard.
It's Mik Fannes-Labro from Belgium, who along with his Dominican wife Orquidea, leads this tavern and receives his guests with exuberant cordiality.
Every Friday night is karaoke time and now with the help of the famous Belgian singer 'Jepols' (Jean Pierre Swalens).
Every Wednesday is pancake day, where you get three pancakes (with Belgian sugar and syrup) for only 100 pesos!
Furthermore, there is often a Belgian Day, including stew with fries or queens appetizers on the menu.
Every Thursday it's cocktail time with a Daiquiri-special offer.
Your order three and you pay only two!
Besides the usual repertoire of drinks, the bar offers more than 25 Belgian beers.

Among them the award winning 'Westvleteren' the Belgian Trappist beers and some strong beers, but also some fruit beers such as Coco beer, Mango Beer and Kriek.
Of course, all of these delicious beers are served in the corresponding original glasses.
The bar - restaurant opens every at noon and closes at midnight, in the weekend they stay open until 2 AM.
The prices for the dishes are between 200 and 300 pesos.
A large beer costs only 125 pesos, a small one 90 peso.
There is a flat screen TV with 8 sports channels available for the sports enthusiast.
For the children there is a playground with all kinds of toys.
