In the weekend of October 10 the 'Sosúa Sharks' basketball team from Sosúa won the Superior Basketball Tournament' in Puerto Plata.
That was a great victory because at that tournament teams from all communities in the province of Puerto Plata participated.
This glorious victory apparently didn't go unnoticed in the capital, Santo Domingo.
For the Sports Minister, Dr. Jaime David Fernández Mirabal, invited the members of the 'Sosúa Sharks' for a visit to his department.
Tuesday morning, October 21 the athletes in the company of Mayor Ilana Neumann and the President Gabino Mencía of Sosúa Sharks took the bus (Caribe Tours) to the capital.
On arriving in the capital, they were warmly received by the Minister.
In his speech he praised the dedication and perseverance of the members of the basketball team, and he pointed out the merits of the board and trainer for the club.

This was followed by a delicious lunch.
At the end of the lunch, the mayor thanked the minister for the invitation and that it was an honor for the sports club and city council.
Once again it shows that for the municipality of Sosúa, sports are very important and that they do everything within their power to inspire the youth to practice sports.
