Sunday November 2 it started to rain and with minor interruptions that went through until Tuesday November 4.
The water came pouring down.
In Islabón and Puerto Plata hundreds of homes were inundated.
The rivers on the north coast like the Yaque del Norte and Rio de Camú could not process the water masses and burst their banks.
Normally it also goes wrong with the Sosúa river.
In previous tropical rain showers this river also has burst its banks several times and thereby inundated many cottages alongside the river shore.
This time Mayor Ilana Neumann wanted to prevent this and set the firm 'Tractor Del Norte' to work.
This company put all its staff and machinery to work to remove everything from the Sosúa river so the water could flow through without any problem.
They started Sunday afternoon and at 12 o'clock at night the job was done.
Mayor prevents flooding
Tractor Del Norte had been previously engaged to ensure the free passage of the river water in different riverbeds.
They have cleared the river Sosúa in Sosúa Abajo and El Tablón and its tributaries in Los Castillos and Loma Bajita from tons of garbage.
Thanks to the alert intervention of Mayor Ilana Neumann and with the help of Tractor Del Norte, Sosúa, despite the heavy rains, was not harmed by severe flooding.
