Until January 10, 2015 there will be more police on the streets to ensure security for citizens during the holidays.
The strict closing times will be lifted for the bars and restaurants during the holidays which can lead to additional nuisance.
Extra police
The traffic police will carry out additional checks on alcohol use in traffic.
The roads from the airports get extra police attention.
Dominicans who live abroad arrive during these holidays back home loaded with presents and other stuff for the family and therefore are willing victims to thieves.
The commander of the police said,
'Our interest is that everyone can enjoy these holidays within the allowable standards'.
With this in mind he also announced that in the same period the police will take firm action against the possession of firearms and the presence of minors in bars.
