In 2005 Judith, graduated lawyer (and practicing Christian), along with her husband Roberto founded a school for poor children near the airport of Puerto Plata.
It is an educational project for children from mainly Haitian parents, who live in the slums opposite the Air Force base near the airport.
These children have no birth certificates and are not registered.
For that reason they can not make use of the free public education.
Judith and her husband decided to establish a nursery and a primary school under the name 'Colegio Evangelico Asher'.

They found some shelter and good teachers who were willing to work for a low wage.
Fortunately, they came in contact with Sylvia, who had collected money in the Netherlands (together with friends and acquaintances) and was willing to support this project.
With the money they were able to purchase the necessary school materials and to pay the teacher's monthly salary.
The supervision and control of the money was provided by the Sosúa Kids Organisation.
Now, nine years later, the school has grown into a nursery, primary and secondary school.
There are currently more than 300 students who make use of this education.
The good news is also that the foundation of the Samaritan has compassion for the school.
Thanks to them they are busy working on a completely new and modern school building.
The salaries of the teachers are also provisionally paid by the Samaritan Foundation.
A request has been sent to the Ministry of Education to recognize the school officially.
After obtaining official status, the salaries and operating costs will hopefully be paid by the Ministry.
